How To Catch A Star - Ten Years On

I have heard so many wonderful things about the Oliver Jeffers book 'How To Catch A Star', however it is not one I have got around to buying myself. So when I was offered a special anniversary copy to celebrate the book's ten year anniversary I just couldn't refuse.

The story of the book follows a boy who gazes at the stars and decides he would like one for a friend. So over the course of the pages he tries all different ways to catch one, and finally he achieves his goal. The book celebrates ambition, striving through adversity, determination and, quite literally, reaching for the stars. It is lovingly illustrated and the special edition is a lovely hardback copy that we will cherish for years to come.

Grandma read the story to them for the first time and they were engrossed immediately.

H enjoyed pointing out the stars and all the ways the boy tries to catch one and J spent each page trying to 'catch' each star himself. It was really very sweet.

We then had a special little bathtime adventure with stars ourselves, featuring the little glow in the dark stars included in our anniversary package, along with pre-prepared glow in the dark water beads and glo-sticks.

The children had a great time in the bath, trying to catch the beads and using the lights to find the stars. It was a lovely, calm end to the day.

To many, myself included, stars have so much more meaning than they used to. With the tragic passing of Matilda Mae just over a year ago, I cannot see stars without thinking of her and her mummy. So Jennie, this was for you too.

To share our love for this book, we have been given a second anniversary copy to giveaway to one lucky reader. Just follow the rafflecopter below!
