Whilst the arrival of half term sees many an excited child, for most of us parents it becomes a balancing act of entertaining hyperactive children whilst not completely wearing out ourselves and our purse strings. So I was delighted when Mr H decided to take an extra day off and join us for the first day of the holidays, and both children adore spending any extra time with him that they can. We decided to take a trip to the coast and visit the seaside town of
Blackpool, and we were fortunate that the weather took a turn for the best and we were graced with beautiful blue skies.
Our first stop was the Sea Life Centre, to have a look at their latest exhibition Jurassic Seas, a trip back in time to take a look at the pre-historic beasts of the ocean. My two always love the Sea Life Centre and Blackpool was just as much fun as our regular haunt at in
Manchester. Their favourite is always the shark area where you can see the ginormous fish and their toothy roommates floating above your ahead. Jack was on the lookout for 'Nemo fish' and we also spotted seahorses, turtles and crabs although both children declined the invitation to hold one.
We spent about ninety minutes inside the centre and then decided to have a wander down beach. It was pretty cold but that didn't stop the children (and Daddy) chasing waves and digging in the sand. The tide was coming in pretty fast and Holly and I nearly got taken out by a rogue wave, but it was all part of the fun!
Unfortunately Daddy has now had to return to work, but with play centre visits with friends and a trip to Yorkshire to see Grandma and Grandad, I'm doing my best to keep my two busy this half term. What are your plans for the rest of the week?
