Review: L.O.L. Surprise #HairGoals

Holly isn't a girl that particularly sits down with dolls or Barbies and will play endlessly, she tends to flit from one activity to another and can end up with every toy she owns out in a short period of time. However one toy she does go back to time and time again are her L.O.L. dolls. She was a fan from the day they came out and loves the collectible concept where she can unpackage each layer, enjoying revealing the surprises as she goes along. On top of several dolls we now have the pop up store where she can play with her dolls but also store everything that comes with them.

Review: Twisty Petz Collectable Toys

A couple of weeks ago we were sent the new Twisty Petz to try. Twisty Petz are are a new toy from Spinmaster that transform from adorable pets into a beautiful bracelet or accessory. I'd first seen these when I went to the Blog On Conference in May and when I came home with one in my goody bag it was instantly fought over. Whilst they are jewellery and can be technically seen as 'girls toys', Jack loved the pet idea and that they could be twisted and undone. When we were sent a few to try we shared them out between the two and Jack was more than happy to have his share.

Review: Belles Musical Tea Party Cart

When I recently attended my local blogging conference, Blog On, I came across the Belle's Musical Tea Party Cart and thought it was a lovely toy. I love Beauty And The Beast, it's one of my favourite Disney films and Holly chose to dress up as Belle at her last birthday party. We have been trying out the toy for a couple of weeks now so I thought I'd share my thoughts.

1. It's a lovely looking toy - a large cart featuring a tray with a spinning top where Mrs Potts, Chip and another cup sit, two spoons, a shelf underneath, wheels and a handle to push the tray around. The cart has a button on the front that when pushed plays "Be Our Guest."

2. It's quite thin plastic so I would say if your child is a little heavy handed you may need to take care, although it did need a bit of pushing down on to get it to fit together and it took that well.

3. There are lots of opportunities for play - my two set it up with Holly's dolls and had a tea party, hosted by Anna and Captain America, which included filling Mrs Pots with juice and, of course, proceeding to spill it everywhere (although I should point out it does say not to be used with liquids, but we didn't have any problems)!

4. It pushed really easily, in fact Jack was running around the house with it, over carpet, our long-pile rug and lino, serving Holly when she rang, and it was absolutely fine.

5. Currently for sale for £49.99 (although I believe it has been on at £60), I do feel it has quite a high price tag. It is a large toy but apart from the music and tease there isn't a huge amount to it that warrants the higher price tag.

It's a lovely toy for any Disney Princess fan and will bring lots of fun to playtime, it quite expensive in my opinion, though.

Review: Blaze Monster Dome Playset

Jack is a huge fan of Blaze and has been since it originally came onto our screens. In fact for his third birthday I had to order a Blaze car from America as the toys weren't available in the UK. However, it has been eighteen months since then and there are a whole host of toys on sale from the show, including the Blaze Monster Dome Playset we have recently been trying out. Here are my thoughts on the toy.

Review: Puppy In My Pocket Pretty Pet Palace

We recently took part in a Puppy In My Pocket party and as part of that were sent a couple of the playsets, and of course puppies, to try out. The toys were originally released in the 90's and, like many toys of my youth, they have been re-released to today's children with much success. We were sent the Pet Palace, Dog Park and a selection of puppies, so I thought I'd give you a quick run down of our thoughts.

Review: Go Jetters Jet Pad Playset

Watching the TV is a popular activity in our house - with myself and Mr Huge films fan it was always going to be the case, and whilst it's not the only activity, it does feature a lot. So when I came across a children's show I hadn't watched I was surprised, as I've seen a lot. The children don't miss a thing though, and when we were sent the new Go Jetters toy to try out they already knew the characters names.

Review: Paw Patrol Weebles

Over the years Jack has fluctuated between TV shows, generally going through a few months of obsession which gradually gives way to the next on the list. His most recent one has been Paw Patrol and we have almost all the figures (just missing Sky!) and lots of the playsets. That is until the latest one was released - the Weebles set.

Party With The Lion Guard

As a child Lion King was one of my favourite Disney films and when I heard they were bringing out a spin-off show I was excited to introduce the new characters to the children. We tend to have Disney Jnr on at breakfast time so I can go get dressed whilst the children eat, and unbeknownst to me the children have been watching it quite a lot.

As the show has been so successful they are now releasing a line of toys, and we have been invited to host a party and give the new range a try. I was surprised to find my two knew the names of all the characters, as I had no idea, and when we unpacked the goodies we were sent they were very excited to play.

Little Tikes Cookin' Creations Kitchen Review

We have several Little Tikes products in our household - from the matching pairs puzzle game Miss H is currently obsessed with, to the Riga Swing we reviewed earlier in the year. We have always loved their products and they have lasted us for two boisterous and often heavy-handed toddlers. Little Tikes are known for their bright, fun toys, particular their Cozy Coupe, and sets that encourage role play and building imaginations.

Wooden Toys For Christmas

Over the last couple of years the availability of wooden toys has grown massively and the range of toys on offer is huge. We have always bought a selection of different toys and I have to say that whilst I love wooden toys, I haven't bought a huge amount of them as they can be very expensive and I end up not wanting the kids to play with them for fear of them being damaged!

It now seems that more accessible brands are finally coming on board with the slow toy movement, one of those being Asda. When I discovered their new wooden toy range I was really surprised at not only the selection, but also the prices.

Our Doc McStuffins Party

Last week we took part in our second party in the last few weeks, this time a Doc McStuffins one! My two both love this show and already H has several Doc figures and a dress-up outfit. We were thrilled to be invite to party and really grateful for the toys and goodies we received for the party.

Review: Fisher Price Little People Skyway

My little man has been a car fan, pretty much as soon as he could move. Last Christmas the majority of his toys were on wheels and his collection is pretty vast now. I wasn't sure there was much else we could get him at this stage that would spark his interest, until we received the Fisher Price Little People Skyway to try.

#What2Buy4Kids Twitter Party

I'm really excited to let you know about another Twitter party we will be taking part in, with a brand I have just recently come across and who I am so happy to support - What2Buy4Kids. Started five years ago, when the owner, Lisa, failed to find somewhere to buy special and unique birthday presents for kids. Using her experience as a primary school teacher, Lisa is able to select fun toys and games and also encourage development and learning.

Our Sofia The First Party

A few days ago we took part in a Sofia The First twitter party. Ran to celebrate the launch of the new Sofia The First Micro Sets, we had some of our friends over to help with the celebrations.

Within my friend group there are two sets of twins - one set are one year old and the other two years old. It's always fun when we get together and we are certainly outnumbered by children - between us there were three mummies and seven children under five! It was great fun though.

Time To Party With Sofia The First!

Sofia The First is definitely a favourite in our house. At first it was mummy who was excited when the Sofia film came onto Disney Junior but over the past six months both children have become more entertained by the little princess and her friends. H now has quite a collection of Sofia figures and woe betide anyone if they try and grab one!

The Pony Cycle

I recently came across a new toy that definitely sparked my intrigue. The Pony Cycle is a plush toy that is quite unique. There is no motor, no power and no battery required so you actually mount the Pony like you would a real horse - your feet rest on the stirrup step and as you bounce the spring action propels the horse forward; the faster you bounce the quicker your Pony will race. The product actually promotes exercise to children, getting them to keep fit whilst still having fun.
