Our Special Sensory Box

At this time of year when it is freezing outside or raining its hard to keep your toddler occupied. I recently put together a daily routine to try and make sure that we are doing different things and learning new things every day, rather than just sitting as watch TV. So on a morning when H is usually at her most awake (she is definitely a morning person, unlike mummy) we do active things or sensory activities.

My Week That Was

Catching up with Katie over at Mummy, Daddy and Me, here is the adventures of my latest week.

Mothers Day One Year Ago

As is it Mothers Day on March 18th (Daddybobbs, take note!), I thought I would take a look back at last years Mothers Day. What a difference a year makes!

Holly's Terrible Twosday Antics

Today I am joining the Crumby Mummy and sharing the antics of our naughty toddlers in Terrible Twosday!

How To Be More Than A Mum

Of late I have had the feeling that I am quickly losing myself. Not so long ago I had a full time job, enjoyed going out and dancing with my friends, spent the weekends laying in with my hubby and our pooch until midday then watching whatever rubbish TV I wanted or going out for the day. Now, as a stay-at-home Mum, I don't have a career to define myself by and have very little time to follow any of my own interests, so it seems all I am is 'Mummy'. Don't get me wrong, being a Mum is a fantastic job, I adore my little girl and I am very fortunate that I can stay at home with her instead of sending her into childcare. But when it gets to the point that I am saying 'ack' (our word when she starting routing through bins or sucking shoes) to myself when she's nowhere near me, or going to bed singing a medley of Disney Channel tunes, I begin to wonder if I am losing the plot.

A Series of Firsts

Over the last week I have been tagged in a few Memes. Having never come across a Meme before I had no idea what one was let alone what I had to do! After seeking advice I realised it almost like a chain letter, in that you, along with other people the post-writer tags, are given a task then have to pass this on to your own series of people. I decided to give the meme I was tagged in by Vikki at Mummy's Cheeky Monkey a go first, being about firsts itself. So here you are:

My Two Weeks That Were

Due to being ill for over a week now (and feeling very sorry for myself), my weekly update was foregone last week in favour of bed and rest. Being pregnant means I am restricted to paracetamol and hot chocolate so I have been quite pitiful of late. To catch up with my last two weeks, and because I am still not feeling great, I have decided to display a few photos of our activities rather than composing a massive post.

My Week That Was

This week is a bit of a crazy week as the Hubby is away in Germany with work *sniff* and I am travelling all over the place in order to avoid too many nights on my own (I don't live in 24 hours away from people now so solitude is no longer forced upon me). So a day later than planned, here is My Week That Was.

My Week That Was

Here we are at Monday again, and linking up with Katie at Mummy, Daddy & Me Makes Three here is My Week That Was.

My Week That Was

It's that day of the week again - Monday - and if you're anything like me you're wishing it was still the weekend! But that also means it's time to join Katie at Mummy Daddy and Me Makes Three for My Week That Was. Here's the recap of my week.

Should Your Child Watch Disney?

There are a lot of people who are against Disney and believe the message the establishment portrays is not something we should be teaching our children. It is true that the 'perfect world' where even your enemies end up being your friends (Mickey never falls out with Peter in Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse, despite endless provocation) and everyone gets their dream come true isn't very realistic, but does that mean our children shouldn't learn these teachings?

My Week That Was

This week I am joining in the linky over at the lovely blog Mummy, Daddy & Me Makes Three. Here's my week that was...

Not So Slow Cooking

After hearing so much about slow cookers from the many mummy bloggers out there, as well as my mummy friends, I decided it was time to try one myself. Having a bit of an aversion to cooking but with very little choice, being the one who doesn't work, I always dread the thought of what I was going to prepare each night. So when I heard there was a tool out there that did all the hard work for me, I would be a fool to say no! So after some pretty pleases directed at my own lovely Mum, on Christmas Day I unwrapped the Breville 4.5 litre slow cooker with glee, and just a smidgen of trepidation - was this really to answer to my culinary prayers?

The End of Our American Adventure

As some of you may be aware, after moving to America last January, my family and I are relocating back home to England in four short weeks. After 18 months our time in American is swiftly drawing to a close. It has been a crazy journey with many highs and lows and although I am thrilled to be returning to my homeland, I am perhaps a little sad to leave the American Dream behind. Before we fly away, I wanted just share just a few words on our time here.

Reflecting Back

Isn’t it funny how life can change, and how much you change along with it?

I used to write, a lot. I had very little else to do (damn how that’s ringing true at this point in my life too). I wrote stories, lyrics and poems. And I’ve saved them all. So as I have been going through my computer, which is full to bursting point, deleting all the crap, I came across all my old files. It’s so strange looking back through them, they almost recount my youth, moment by moment. The years of bullying and torment, the boys and the heartache and mischief they brought, the steep learning curves and the dreams that I had forgotten about. It’s interesting reading, knowing what I know now and realising how naive I was but also how big I used to dream.

Introducing Hollybobbs

Meet my daughter Holly. Born in December 2010 she is a Sagittarius and as psychicguild.com states, Sagittarians possess a natural exuberance, sense of adventure and love of life that makes them one of the most optimistic zodiac signs of all. Looking at the Chinese Star Signs, she was born in the year of the Tiger, and according to the online Chinese astrology website , this means she is  adventurous and courageous and a born leader! So I better watch out!

As I type this she is currently sat watching Disney Junior, after waking up from her nap under her rainforest playmat. Clearly she is already an adventurer!
