For the last few weeks we have been trying out the new Free 2C Globber Scooter. The idea behind these innovative scooters is to help develop balance and aid young children to master a scooter using several features.
Both children have ridden a scooter before without problems, however the Globber steers completely differently - instead of turning the handlebars the Globber requires you to lean to activate its intuitive steering. It has ball bearings attached between the front wheels making the steering power assisted and gives a much smoother ride. It did take my two a little bit to master this different way of steering, however once they had it was their scooter of choice.
The Globber also has a low deck giving better stability and as well as handlebar grips made from more durable material, all in all making a ride of the Globber really comfortable. I gave it a try myself and I can definitely vouch for its comfort over the normal hard plastic scooters.
Finally I love the wheels on the Globber, not only do they look great but they are also high rebound polyurethane with nylon cores making them really high quality ensuring they last throughout lots of wear and tear they are bound to succumb to.
I set Holly the challenge of mastering the Globber after she had previously refused to give it a try. It really did not take her long to adjust to the new steering and I was surprised how much she loved it. Before long she was turning and scooting around the street happily. Quite often she was bending down rather than standing up so I adjusted the handlebar height and this seemed to help.
I have put together a fun video of her giving the Globber a try, which you can have a look at below. If you are interested in these unique scooters you can visit their website or find them on Facebook.
UPDATE:
We have now owned this scooter for eighteen months and have in fact purchased a second one for my son. The children still love them and prefer to use them over anything else, including their brand new bikes! We have taken the scooters on many terrains and they have been fantastic and their robust frames and wheels meant they have held up brilliantly to lots of use. I would definitely recommend these above any other scooter.
*We were sent this scooter FOC however all opinions are my own.
