We visited Bluestone with our friends and their three children, all under two years old. Along with our own two and four year old, it was certainly a busy house, but as we are all in the same boat it didn't phase us. As I said above, we stayed for four nights and it was definitely a much-needed break for all of us.
My overall thoughts on Bluestone are that if you are looking for a break away with family and/or friends then this is definitely somewhere you should consider. For young families there is plenty to keep you busy - the swimming pool, the adventure centre, soft play, messy play. Not to mention enjoying the grounds and everything you can enjoy outdoors - beast hunting sounds so much fun!
For families with older children there are even more activities, from the adrenaline rush of The Ravine to kayaking on the lake or laser clay shooting. Some of these the children can attend unaccompanied, meaning you get a break and time to yourself, which we all know as parents this can be hard to come by.
For the adults in your party the spa is definitely a place I can recommend where you can enjoy the Celtic Experience we did or you can completely relax with many treatments on offer. On an evening Camp Smokey provides indoor--outdoors entertainment and you can try The Tavern for drinks next to the log fire.
The site itself is only a few miles from some stunning locations of Pembrokeshire. The beautiful Tenby is a half an hour drive away where you can enjoy two beaches and wander around the historic Victorian town enjoying restaurant, cafes and plenty of ice creameries. Folly Farm is a great attraction for families and for walkers there are so many places to explore you won't be short of things to do.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return, the accommodation was of a high standard and extremely comfortable and there was plenty on site to keep us all entertained.
For those of you who are visiting anytime soon, here are my top tips for your stay:
- Take beach towels for the pool - you can buy them on site but they are £4 each and not the largest.
- I would advise also taking the essentials - milk, bread, teabags, sugar, ketchup, some dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll and toilet roll. Whilst you can buy all that on site, it is more expensive and much easier to have to hand when you arrive.
- Hire a golf buggy, trust me you'll thank me for it! When we visited in January the price was set at £65 for the week, however they were doing a deal as it was quiet on site of £35. In the end my husband bartered and got a further discount as we only wanted the buggy for three days, so always ask.
- Make use of the creche - whilst it isn't cheap at £20 per child for three hours, but having that time to ourselves was well worth it in our eyes.
