Recently our time together as a family has been sat indoors or on rare trips out to the supermarket or for a pub lunch. My M.E. has been quite bad lately so even things like going up and down stairs has to be planned out. I knew going to this event would probably take it out of me, but I really wanted to just get out and be with the children and have some fun, so I was extremely grateful for the opportunity. My sister came along with us and was a great help.
We didn't arrive until 11am and so had missed the welcome and a couple of the events, however we just really wanted to slowly make our way around and take in what we could, for us it wasn't a rush to see everything. Red House Farm was really easy to find, however when we rolled up to see the parking was on a field, somehow the 3 series didn't seem like the best mode of transportation! Thanks to some well placed straw we made it onto the site, donned our wellies and head towards the tents.
We first entered the barn where Mini Maestros had just started, which was great timing and my sister, myself and H had fun playing the instruments and joining in with the dancing.
After lunch we had to go the huge play area next to the cafe, as we just couldn't keep the children away from it any longer! There was the usual swings and slides, however there were several of them, as well as a large sandpit, Little Tike's Cosy Coupe racing, ride-ons and several Wendy Houses, one of which J deemed to be his and wouldn't allow any other child inside!
After finally dragging the children away from the play area we head towards the field where the Big Top was.
I was surprised at how much was going on here and the children were so excited about the rides. At two and three they were a bit little for some, however there were enough to keep them entertained for some time.
We stopped off inside the Big Top a couple of times to catch Dr Ranj, who H seemed to enjoy. We also bumped into Spiderman and the Disney Princesses, who H was besotted with.
After enjoying most of the entertainment we were given the chance to have a 'meet and greet' with the stars of the day - Alex Winters, Dr Ranj, Cat Sandion, Flynn and Rapunzel from Tangled and Elsa and Anna from Frozen. H was so overawed by the princesses and kept heading back over to talk to them, and they were so lovely chatting away to her.
After a long day we returned to the car, covered in mud and ready for the journey home. However we had one last adventure in store - getting the rear-wheel-drive out of the mud! After seeing rain and many a car drive through it, the muddy field wasn't letting us go easy and we ended up being towed out by the tractor! I have to say it was great fun though.
We had a lovely day at Little Fun Fest. It's a long day, so do be prepared for this, however there is so much to do you will not be bored. We probably didn't make the most of all that was on offer, however given the circumstances we enjoyed what we did. It isn't cheap to attend - £64 for a family of four - but once you have paid everything is free (apart from lunch). For a special day out and the chance to have a lovely day with your children I can highly recommend it.
